Indian Railways creates Railway Jobs in the following 17 zones. Each Zone is headed by a General Manager who reports to the Ministry of Railways or the Railway Board.

Railway Recruitment Boards

Railway Recruitment Boards are organisations under the Government of India that manage the appointment of new employees to work in Indian railways. There are 21 boards situated in different parts of India:

The Railway Service Commissions were renamed as Railway Recruitment Boards in 1985. The function of Indian Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) is to facilitate Railway Recruitment on an all India basis. The information and reach of Railway Jobs has been spread through out India due to RRB's. After the advent of technology, the Railway Jobs when published become immediate public knowledge due to Railway Job Alert and Notifications sent by many employment news sites such as BharatGovtJobs.

All Railway vacancies are published through the RRBs. Currently there are 21 Railway Recruitment Boards set up all over India who manage Railway Jobs and openings.
